After a 2-5 start, the momentum the New Orleans Saints were expected to have going into the bye week has been all but compromised. While the opening of a season doesn’t guarantee the same story to close it, the team’s start does have will total projections falling.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Saints are now getting plus-odds to win more than 6.5 wins for the season (+120).
With a tough stretch of five games upcoming, it could come down to the final weeks of the season for the Saints to eclipse that projection.
That’s a disappointing result for the team that was expected to take a step forward after its 6-win season in 2025.
The team’s projection to start the season commonly hovered around 7.5, showing a drop in confidence that the Saints can string together more wins this season.
Vegas’ confidence is far from the end-all-be-all of actual performance. The team will be looking to turn things around after the bye week and are in the hopes of getting healthier with the possible returns of running back Travis Etienne Jr., rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and, more distantly, left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. all cautiously expected.
Ultimately, the team’s ability to cross even its newer, lesser win total will come down to their performance over the next few weeks as their tough schedule to open the season continues.
