NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Saints have announced their list of inactive players ahead of their Week 9 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. This week’s shuffle looks to mostly impact the team’s defensive front with their rookie tackle inactive and veteran Nathan Shepherd good to go.
Here are the Saints’ inactive players for the game:
Saints Inactives
- QB Zach Wilson (3rd QB)
- S Mike Reid
- RB C.J. Donaldson (shoulder, concussion)
- DL Christen Miller
- LB Jaylan Ford
- OL Mason Murphy
- DL John Ridgeway III
As expected, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. are both active for Sunday’s game. Their roles are still to be determined, but both offensive contributors are set to take the field Sunday.
Along with the shuffle at defensive tackle, there’s also going to be a change at running back for the team as Audric Estime, Alvin Kamara and practice squad call-up Zamir White are set to take on the bulk of the work, while Donaldson remains out with injuries.
Cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. is set to continue starting opposite cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. He was managing a shin injury throughout the week. Despite not practicing Friday as part of his recovery regimen, he is active.
The team’s decision to list Murphy as inactive indicates that Banks could return as a starter or serve as the second-string option behind Asim Richards Jr..
Meanwhile, kicker Charlie Smyth, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, is handling kicking duties after the team moved on from veteran Daniel Carlson earlier in the week.
