Trey’Dez Green is progressing toward playing.
The sophomore tight end sprained his knee blocking against Louisiana Tech and missed last week’s game against Florida. He could make his return Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana, but that decision hasn’t been made.
“Trey’Dez was out at practice (Thursday) moving around,” said head coach Brian Kelly. “We threw the ball to him a little bit. I would say that he is, for Saturday, we’re going to put him questionable.”
Senior linebacker West Weeks went down in the second half against the Gators with a calf strain, and Kelly called him “doubtful” for Saturday’s contest. A trip to Oxford to take on an unbeaten Ole Miss team looms beyond Southeastern Louisiana.
Kelly also reinforced Wednesday’s assertion that quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will play and has improved from a “torso injury”.
“He’s feeling good,” Kelly said. “We had to limit a lot of the things we did over the first three or four weeks. He’s finally coming to practice feeling good and getting into a good rhythm. He’s had his best week of practice. So, we want him to go and play the game at a level where he’s comfortable. To hold him back really at this point would not be the right thing for him. He’s excited to play because he feels so much better.”
Nussmeier and the passing game have failed to get the ball down the field and create explosive plays through three games. Last season, despite a lack of speed on the outside at times, LSU still produced massive numbers through the air.
The Tigers are still searching for that consistency in 2025.
“I don’t want to say, ‘hey, he’s back to the Garrett Nussmeier,’ but there were a lot of things that he couldn’t do that he kind of had to adjust to, and it’s good that he’s back and doing the things and throwing the football the way he feels and comfortably,” Kelly said.
Freshman defensive tackle Zion Williams has cleared concussion protocol and was “full contact” on Thursday.
