The New Orleans Saints had a rough showing against the Seattle Seahawks in their 44-13 Week 3 loss. There’s no sugarcoating a toppling like what was seen on Sunday, so we’ll get right to the chase. Here are some of the numbers that help tell the story of a game worth forgetting for the Saints.
7 – The Saints surrendered scores to the Seahawks on their first seven possessions. In addition, the team let up a 95-yard punt return for a touchdown during that streak.
11 – The Saints committed double digit penalties for the second time in three games with 11 this week and 13 in Week 1.
14.6 – Per Next Gen Stats, the Saints’ defense generated pressure on 14.6% of snaps, No. 29 of the 30 teams to play ahead of Monday Night Football. Seattle more than doubled that rate at 35.6%.
32 – Seattle went into halftime with a 32-point lead, the largest first-half leads the Saints have surrendered since 2005.
61 – Saints punter Kai Kroeger booted a 61-yard punt on the Seattle return touchdown. Despite the score that was allowed, the punt tied for the No. 9 longest in franchise history.
75 – Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has now won three of his four career games against the Saints, good for a 75% win rate.
154.2 – Darnold’s 154.2 passer rating was his highest against the Saints in his career and was the first such rating to exceed 100 in his games against New Orleans. His lowest is 2.8, which came from a 2023 win as the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers.
2015 – Seattle wide receiver Tory Horton returned a franchise-record 95-yard punt return for a touchdown. The first punt return touchdown for Seattle since 2015.
2016 – This is the 15th time in the Saints’ franchise history that they have started 0-3, the first time since 2016.
1,000 – Excluding the Super Bowl, the Saints’ 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Spencer Rattler to tight end Jack Stoll was the team’s 1,000th all-time scrimmage touchdown.
