Through the first four games of the 2025 season, the New Orleans Saints are tied for No. 21 across the league in red zone touchdown percentage.
Along with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans has converted just 50% of its red zone possessions into touchdowns. That includes a curious reverse wide receiver pass to quarterback Spencer Rattler that failed against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.
Help in being more efficient in this area could be on the way soon. Head coach Kellen Moore said that tight end Taysom Hill will return to practice this week.
He and fellow tight end Foster Moreau are set to begin their journeys back to the active roster from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Hill in particular could be a major benefit for the Saints in converting red zone possession into touchdowns. With him in the lineup last season, the Saints converted 61.5% of their red zone possessions into touchdowns. Without him, the Saints only found the endzone 52.9% of the time, a near 10% drop.

The versatile offensive weapon could help in further building the team’s identity around the run game as well, but primarily, helping the team score points could be his most important contribution.
It’s not guaranteed just yet that Hill will return to the lineup. His practice window is set to be opened, and then he’ll have three weeks to work his way back to the active roster. The Saints will have to let that process play out. But if he makes his return to the field this year, Hill could provide a spark for the Saints’ offense.
