The 2016 second-round selection out of Ohio State was a mainstay in the Saints’ defense until his departure in 2020. He now receives a promotion at the Colorado Buffaloes from Defensive Assistant to Safeties Coach.
Bell joined the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders just last year and is already climbing the ranks.
The former Buckeyes safety totaled 348 combined tackles, 14 for a loss, eight sacks, 14 passes defended and an interception during his four years as the Saints’ starting safety. He then went on to put together successful years with the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers, notching a Super Bowl appearance with the Bengals in the 2021-22 season. He was a team captain with the Bengals.
Bell was often credited as a player with a high football IQ and for being a high-level communicator on and off the field. He now will get a chance to put that experience and skill set to work as a coach in the Buffaloes’ system.
