Saints bolster safety, wide receiver groups entering Week 8
10/26/2024
The New Orleans Saints announced four roster moves ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend. The team announced the transactions on Saturday afternoon. The Saints are bolstering their safety room, after moving on Jonathan Abram earlier in the week, and adding depth at wide receiver.
Here are the moves the team announced:
- Signed safety Ugo Amadi to the active roster
- Waived running back Jordan Mims
- Elevated wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown
- Elevated safety Roderic Teamer
The Saints were going into this matchup with only three safeties on their active roster, so the elevation of Teamer was no surprise. Amadi and Teamer will help the team from a depth stand point at both safety and will contribute heavily across various special teams units. Amadi will also provide addition security at slot corner with cornerback Paulson Adebo on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season.
With wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. out this weekend due to a hip injury, St. Brown is elevated for the second week to help provide at the position. Newly-signed wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling could play a big role immediately after joining the team.
Mims, a talented runner and receiver out of the backfield, hasn’t gotten much opportunity this year. But with a long season still ahead, he should be an absolute when it comes to rejoining the team’s practice squad, assuming he’s not scooped up off of waivers by another club.
