LSU’s crowded infield may have sent a signee elsewhere.
CJ Weinstein, an infielder from Newport Beach, CA., flipped from LSU to UCLA on Sunday. He made the announcement on his Instagram.
Weinstein is a left-handed hitter and considered a significant draft risk next weekend.
LSU returns Steven Milam at shortstop as well as Jack Ruckert who can play both middle infield spots. John Pearson is an option at third base, too. Dawson Park and Cade Curland have transferred in as upperclassmen who may have an inside track to start on the Tiger infield in 2027.
That traffic jam of talent might have made it tough for Weinstein to get on the field early. UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowski may be the top pick in the draft on Friday.
Weinstein committed to LSU in the fall of 2024.
