Brian Kelly’s buyout has been heavily discussed since his termination on October 26.
According to a report from WAFB, the dismissed coach is open to settlement with the school. Kelly sent an e-mail to Scott Woodward and other LSU administrators that included:
“As we discussed in our meeting, I’m open to your desire to reach a settlement of what’s owed to me under the contract, although of course it would have to make sense financially.”
Contractually, Kelly is owed more than $53 million which represents 90 percent of the remainder of his contract. Kelly was just three and a half years into a 10-year deal worth $85 million. He finished his time at LSU 34-14 overall and 19-10 in league games.
